Selfish I

There is just very thin line of difference between being selfish and wanting everything. The biggest similarity is the word 'I'.

The oxford dictionary defines the word selfish as "caring only about yourself".
Selfishness(SFNS) is immanent in mammals( at least in human beings).
Everybody in the world is selfish including the parents who give birth. If they know in advance that their child is going to be of no use in their old age or near future, I bet their love and care would show signs of abating.
Everybody wants or expects something or the other from everybody.
Every second of our day to day life is filled with work what we want to do. We always look at our own interest when we do things. Another sign of SFNS is we feel happy when those tasks are accomplished. I am writing about this topic not because I am for the motion but because I want to express myself. This is also a kind of SFNS.The moment you say 'I want this' (note the words I WANT) you become selfish.
Even our devotion to god is guided by selfishness. No relation in this world is sacred and SFNS free.
What is the thing which guides this self love. What makes us think only about ourselves. The every bigger thing we aspire for and every greater thing we do is guided by SFNS. We marry a person we love and not the one we hate.
Even if we want to get rid of this SFNS, we are thinking about ourselves and we become selfish.
We the people do not forgive selfishness of others, but what about our own. The ingenious self wants to gratify every worldly desire.

wow!!
what a wonderful thought!!
really!!
i am impressed...i would like to add few more colors to your rainbow..
First of all..in my view..why is selfishness taken always in negative sense...according to wikipedia..
Selfishness denotes the precedence given in thought or deed to the self, i.e., self interest or self concern. It is the act of placing one's own needs or desires above the needs or desires of others. Selfishness is the opposite of altruism (selflessness).
i admit, there is bit of GREY element in this word..bt i oppose this word to be called in negative references...
well...i have seen various synonyms of this word too in practical life..let me give you an example..
when one person find other persons acting in their own interest,he immediately calls them SELFISH....but he justifies the same act of his own by coining a new term i.e PROFESSIONAL...he says..this is demand of time and supports with various arguments...
i was jus trying to say..selfishness is not avice if it is not virtue...
i really appreciate the author of this post for jotting this beauty here:)
